The Traditional style KOI Pond, do not have rock and gravel in the bottom of the pond. The walls of the pond are gradually sloped toward a bottom intake drain, when fish waste enters the drain; it is gravity feed to a FlowRanger Vortex Pre-filter before it enters the pump. It is important to pre-filter the waste before the pump, preventing the liquefaction of the fish waste.
The Extend-A-Drain is installed similar to any liner installed drain, with the option of adding multiple extensions across the ponds bottom if desired. One Extend-A-Drain can be installed for every 3500 GPH of pump flow, a combination of a skimmer and one Extend-A-Drain flowing to a Vortex Style Pre-filter can operate from a single FlowRanger External Pump.
Each Extend-A-Drain comes with an air dome supply and a 48” long horizontal suction plate across the top of the drain, which is easy to clean if needed.
